USING QUESTION TAGS
Question tags are short questions at the end of statements.
They are mainly used in speech when we want to confirm that something is true or not, or to encourage a reply from the person we are speaking to.
A positive statement is followed by a negative question tag.
is Monday, isn’t it?
are wondering who I am, aren’t you?
is quite attractive, isn’t she?
I’m rather late,
shall see each other again, shan’t we?
A negative statement is followed by a positive question tag.
didn’t come this morning, did you?
isn’t yours, is it?
aren’t funny, are they?
shouldn’t say things like that, should she?
