TOPIC – BASIC READING AND GUIDED WRITING
PERFORMANCE OBJECTIVES
By the end of the lesson, most of the pupils should have attained the following objectives –
1. read and write sentences and link them to express incident.
2. identify and write points that could make up larger stories.
3. use story provided by the teacher to select the points that will help them write their own stories.
4. write two paragraphs and links them.
ENTRY BEHAVIOUR
Most of the pupils can read and write.

CONTENT OF THE LESSON
FOCUS READING AND WRITING
1. Folk stories
3. Stories taken from supplementary readers –
- Teacher made stories
- Writing outlines based on folktales
- Writing two paragraphs stories, for example – The teacher who never goes late to work or The farmer who always thanked God for his bicycle.
PRESENTATION
To deliver the lesson, the teacher adopts the following steps:
1. To introduce the lesson, the teacher revises the previous lesson. Based on this, he/she asks the pupils some questions;
2. Reads the composition to the pupils.
Pupil’s Activities – Listen to the teacher’s story or composition.
3. Get the pupils to read the story and note the main points.
Pupil’s Activities – Read the story and note the main point. Also, contribute to points from the story.
4. Guides the pupils to write two paragraphs stories.
Pupil’s Activities – Follow the teacher’s guide for writing.
5. Provides outlines for pupils to write the story.
Pupil’s Activities – Pick point from the outlines provided to develop and a story – write a story with a beginning and end.
CONCLUSION
- To conclude the lesson for the week, the teacher revises the entire lesson and links it to the following week’s lesson.
