LEARNING OBJECTIVES 

 

By the end of the lesson, most pupils should have attained the following objectives – outline the basic safety procedures for a computer room.

 

ENTRY BEHAVIOUR

The pupils can identify computer system.

 

INSTRUCTIONAL MATERIALS

The teacher will teach the lesson with the aid of functional computer system and chart showing a computer room.

 

METHOD OF TEACHING

Choose a suitable and appropriate methods for the lessons. Note – Irrespective of choosing methods of teaching, always introduce an activities that will arouse pupil’s interest or lead them to the lessons.

CONTENT OF THE LESSON

LESSON 1 – INTRODUCTION 

A computer room is a room where we keep our computers and other devices such as internet access, scanners, and printers. Another name for a computer is computer lab, that’s laboratory.

 

BASIC SAFETY FOR COMPUTER ROOM 

The safety of a computer room is the safety of computer systems and other things found in a computer room.

 

1. A computer room must be spacious.

2. A computer room must be well ventilated.

3. A Computer room must be clean and well tidy.

4. A computer room temperature must be cool.

5. No ones must eat or drink in the computer room, not even the teacher.

 

LESSON 2 – BASIC SAFETY FOR COMPUTER SYSTEM (CONTINUATION)

6. Each computer system must have their own UPS.

7. Backup power must be available.

8. Fire alarm must be installed.

9. Fire extinguisher must be available in a computer room.

10. Do not eat or drink in the computer room.

11. Safety rules must be visible for all users.

12. Turn off the power and unplug equipment before performing service.

13. Turn off the computer systems and other electrical appliances after class.

14. Turn off the power system.

 

LESSON 3 – REVISION AND WEEKLY ASSESSMENT 

As stated in performance objectives or lesson evaluation. 

 

PRESENTATION

To deliver the lesson, the teacher adopts the following steps:

1. To introduce the lesson, the teacher revises the previous lesson. Based on this, he/she asks the pupils some questions;

2. Teacher organizes the pupils in groups or pair depending on the size of the class.

 

3. Teacher displays charts showing an organized and unorganized computer rooms for the pupils to identify and discuss the differences.

Pupil’s Activities – The pupils differentiate between organized and unorganized computer rooms.

4. Teacher uses the charts and the groups relevant responses to introduce the lesson and lead a class discussion on the basic rules for compute room.

Pupil’s Activities – The pupils pay attention to the lesson introduction and participate actively in the class discussion.

5. Teacher summarizes the lesson on the board with appropriate evaluation.

Pupil’s Activities – The pupils participate actively in the summary of the lesson by responding correctly to most of the questions write as instructed.

 

CONCLUSION

To conclude the lesson for the week, the teacher revises the entire lesson and links it to the following week’s lesson.
