CONTENTS OF THE LESSON

DEFINITION OF HUMAN RIGHTS 

Human rights are rights inherent to all human beings, regardless of race, sex, nationality, ethnicity, language, religion, or any other status.

Human rights include the right to life and liberty, freedom from slavery and torture, freedom of opinion and expression, the right to work and education, and many more.

 

LIMITATIONS OF HUMAN RIGHTS

During war, state of emergency, criss, rioting, conviction in a law court, etc. some, if not most of the fundamental human rights are limited. The following human rights can be limited,

1. right to dignity

2. right to a fair hearing

3. freedom from discrimination

4. freedom of assembly and association

5. freedom of expression

6. freedom of movement

7. freedom of thought, conscience, and religion

8. right to life

9. right to own property

10. right to privacy

Wars, state of emergency, conviction in a law court etc.

 

 

A LIST OF WHAT HAPPENS DURING EMERGENCY PERIODS

An emergency period can be defined as a situation that empowered the government of a country or state to suspend all the constitutional rights of the citizens in order to restore law and order. During this periods, human rights are affected because of the uncertainty, tension and unplanned events in the state.

The following are the of what happened during the emergency period,

1. sit at home order

2. stop and search

3. lack of freedom of speech

4. increase in crime rate

5. breakdown of law and order

6. emigration

7. long time of curfew
