CONTENT OF THE LESSON
LESSON 1 – INTRODUCTORY ACTIVITIES
Teacher’s Activities – Display a chart showing male and female domestic animals (chicken and goat) for the pupils to identify and differentiate between male and female domestic animals.
Pupil’s response – quick response to question.
Teacher’s remark – Listen to the pupils and give a cheer for active participation and quick response.
HOW CHICKENS AND GOATS PRODUCE THEIR YOUNG ONES
Teacher’s Activities – Ask the pupils to describe or explain how chickens and goats reproduce their young once.
Pupil’s response – Quick response to the teacher’s questions.
Teacher’s remark – Listen to the pupils and celebrate active participation. Support their points and do the board summary.
MEANING OF REPRODUCTION IN DOMESTIC ANIMALS
Reproduction is the process by which adult animals reproduce their young ones.
REPRODUCTION IN CHICKENS AND GOATS
A male meets with a female animal of the same type. That’s male chicken meets female chicken and male goat meets female goat. After mating, the female chicken (ducks, pigeons, etc.) lay eggs. These eggs later hatch into young once.
In other animals like goat, dogs, sheep, cows, etc., after mate, the female carries pregnancy and later gives birth to the young animal alive.
The young animals grow and become adult.
LESSON EVALUATION
State 5 domestic animals that lay eggs and 5 domestic animals that carry pregnancy.

- Animals that lay eggs include – chickens, pigeons, ducks, fishes,, etc.
- Animals that carry pregnancy include – goats, dogs, cows, pigs, etc.
LESSON 2 – DOMESTIC ANIMALS AND THEIR YOUNG ONES
Teacher’s Activities – Write on the board, the names of some young animals for the pupils to spell and pronounce. Then, discuss each name.
Pupil’s response – spell and pronounce the names of young animals. Then, participate in the discussion.
Teacher’s remark – For active participation, give a great cheer. Summary the activities on the board.
NAMES OF DOMESTIC ANIMALS AND THEIR YOUNG ONES
- Hen – Chick is a name of young hen.
- Cat – Kitten is a name of young cat.
- Dog – Puppy is a name young dog.
- Cow – Calf is a name of young cow.
- Donkey – Colt is a name of young donkey.
- Duck – Duckling is a name of young duck.
- Pig – Piglet is a name of young pig.
- Goat – Kid is a name of young goat.
- Sheep – Lamb is a name of young sheep.
LESSON 3 – INTRODUCTORY ACTIVITIES
Teacher’s activities – Discuss the benefits (importance) of domestic animals with your pupils.
Pupil’s activities – active participation in the class discussion.

BENEFITS OF DOMESTIC ANIMALS
1. Milk and meat production – chickens, goats, cows, etc.
2. Transportation – horses and donkeys

5. Pest (rats) control – cat
PRESENTATION
To deliver the lesson, the teacher adopts the following steps:
1. To introduce the lesson, the teacher revises the previous lesson. Based on this, he/she asks the pupils some questions;
2. Ask pupils to identify the features of male and female domestic animals.
