2. state ways of maintaining hygiene and cleanliness during menstruation period.

CONTENT OF THE LESSON  

LESSON 1 – INTRODUCTION 

Puberty is the stage of development in child’s body mature into young adults. Development of breast and menstruation is one of the signs of puberty in girls.

INTRODUCTORY QUESTION

• What do you understand by menstruation?

• State the importance of cleanliness during menstruation and define menstrual hygiene.

MEANING OF MENSTRUATION 

Menstruation is a period of flow (blood) in girl or woman between 2 to 7 days.

A period is when blood comes out through a girl’s private part.

MEANING OF MENSTRUAL HYGIENE 

This is known as cleanliness during menstruation.

Menstrual hygiene is the use of clean materials to absorb menstrual blood and changed as soon as possible during menstruation.

That is, cleanliness of the materials used and of the body.

 

LESSON 2 – MEANING OF OVULATION 

Ovulation is the release of eggs from woman’s ovaries or the release of eggs during menstruation.

Ovulation is a part of your menstrual cycle and only happens when an egg is released woman’s ovaries.

SIGNS OF OVULATION 

1. Increase sexual desire.

2. Change in basal body temperature.

3. Breast Tenderness

4. Sharp pain in the lower abdomen.

5. Chance of getting pregnant.

 

DIFFICULTY IN PREDICTING THE OVULATION PERIOD 

Ovulation typically happens around day 14 of a 28-day menstrual cycle. However, not everyone has a textbook 28-day cycle, so the exact timing can vary.

In general, ovulation occurs in the four days before or four days after your cycle’s midpoint.

 

MEANING OF FERTILIZATION AND CONCEPTION 

Fertilization is the joining together of the male’s sperm to the female’s ovum (eggs). That’s, the union of male’s sperms and female’s eggs.

Conception is the period when the sperms swim from male’s private part to through the female’s virginal into the uterus of woman to join with the woman’s eggs.

 

LESSON 3 – REVISION AND WEEKLY ASSESSMENT (TEST) 

ASSIGNMENTS

1. explain pregnancy.

2. describe symptoms of pregnancy and where to get help.

3. explain the growth of foetus (from stage by stage till birth).

PRESENTATION

To deliver the lesson, the teacher adopts the following steps:

1. To introduce the lesson, the teacher revises the previous lesson. Based on this, he/she asks the students some questions;

2. Asks the students what they understand by menstruation.

Student’s Activities – Explain the meaning of menstruation.

3. Ask the students to state the importance of cleanliness during menstruation and define menstrual hygiene.

4. Discusses the meaning and signs of ovulation with the students
