PERFORMANCE OBJECTIVES

By the end of the lesson, the pupils should have attained the following objectives –

1. explain what public places mean. –

2. mention different public places.

3. explain activities that take place in public places.

 

 

ENTRY BEHAVIOUR

The pupils can identify home, church, mosque, etc. as places.

 

 

INSTRUCTIONAL MATERIALS

The teacher will teach the lesson with the aid of chart showing different public place such as schools, hospital, library, beach, etc.

 

 

METHOD OF TEACHING

Choose a suitable and appropriate methods for the lessons.

Note – Irrespective of choosing methods of teaching, always introduce an activities that will arouse pupil’s interest or lead them to the lessons.

CONTENT OF THE LESSON

INTRODUCTION (MEANING OF PUBLIC PLACE) 

A public space is a place that is open and accessible to the general public.

 

EXAMPLES OF PUBLIC PLACE

1. Schools

2. Hospitals

3. Road and pavement

4. Community library

5. Beach

6. Field

7. Market

8. Recreation centres, etc.

 

 

PRESENTATION

To deliver the lesson, the teacher adopts the following steps:

1. To introduce the lesson, the teacher revises the previous lesson based on what he/she taught or what the pupils have learned.

2. Teacher displays chart showing different types of public places.

3. Teacher allow the pupils to examine and state the importance of each place on the chart.

Pupil’s Activities – The pupils identify places like the school, market, etc. as public places.

4. Teacher uses the chart and the pupils relevant responses to introduce the lesson.

Pupil’s Activities – The pupils pay attention to the lesson introduction.

5. Teacher explains the meaning of public places and guides the pupils to identify the uses of each places.

Pupil’s Activities – The pupils define public place and state their uses.

8. Teacher summarizes the lesson on the board in a very simple sentence using appropriate lesson evaluation.

Pupil’s Activities – The pupils participate actively in the summary by responding correctly to the questions and write as instructed.

 

 

CONCLUSION

To conclude the lesson for the week, the teacher revises the entire lesson and links it to the following week’s lesson.
