By the end of the lesson, the pupils should have attained the following objectives (cognitive, affective and psychomotor) and should be able to –
1. identify the various uses of light.
2. explain the importance of colour.
3. appraise the connection between light and colour.

The pupils can state the uses of light and colour.

The teacher will teach the lesson with the aid of:
1. chart showing different source of light.
2. chart showing objects of different colours.
3. toys and objects of different colours.

CONTENT OF THE LESSON
LESSON 1 – INTRODUCTION
Light is a form of energy. Some light can be found in nature, like the sun, the moon and the stars. While other source of light are created by people, such as bulb, torchlight, candle, lantern, fire, etc.
Light is a form of energy that makes it possible for us to see ourselves and things around us.
USES OF LIGHT
The uses of Light are as follows:
1. It helps us to see things.
2. It helps plants to make food
3. It helps plants to grow.
4. It is used in power the street light.
5. It is used in power home appliances.
6. It is used for controlling traffic.
7. It makes camera work well.
LESSON 2 – MEANING AND USES OF COLOUR
Colour is a appearance of things in a unique reflection. For example, Nigerian flag is Green White Green.
There are objects of different colours in our environment. Some are red, black, blue, etc.
We all have the colour we like best. One person may like blue colour, another may like red best and yet another may like green colour.
Each colour has somebody who likes it. What is your favorite colour?
VARIOUS COLOURS AROUND US
There are various colours around us. Some of them represent nature, symbols, business, even nation.
Some of them are – Red, Blue, Yellow, Purple, Green, etc. as in the
1. Sky – blue
2. Grass -green
3. Flower – red, green, yellow, while, etc.
4. Available animals around – black and white.
5. School’s uniform – red, white, etc.
6. National flag – green white green
USES OF COLOUR
The uses of colour are as follows:
1. Painting
2. Logo
3. Identity
4. Dyeing
5. Beautification and Decoration
6. Design
7. Consume
8. Writing and drawing
9. Traffic control
LESSON 3 – RELATIONSHIP BETWEEN LIGHT AND COLOUR
Light is color. Only when there is light can there be color, because without it, there is no scene. Light is the only source of color for all objects. When light stimulates the human retina, color vision is formed. Without light, there is no color.

REVISION AND WEEK LESSON ASSESSMENT

PRESENTATION
To deliver the lesson, the teacher adopts the following steps:
1. To introduce the lesson, the teacher revises the previous lesson. Based on this, he/she asks the pupils some questions;
2. Teacher organizes the pupils in groups depending on the size of the class.
3. Teacher displays chart showing different source of light for the pupils in groups to identify and state their important or uses.
Pupil’s Activities – The pupils state the importance of the sun, moon and stars.
4. Teacher uses the chart and the groups responses to introduce the lesson – Meaning and Uses of Light.
5. Teacher leads the pupils as groups to discuss the meaning and uses of light.
Pupil’s Activities – The pupils participate actively in the class discussion on the meaning and uses of light.
6. Teacher uses the chart and objects of different colours to introduce and leads a class discussion on the meaning and uses of colour in their community.
Pupil’s Activities – The pupils participate actively in the class discussion on the meaning and uses of colours.
7. Tecaher explains the relationship between light and colour.
Pupil’s Activities – The pupils listen carefully to the teacher’s explanation.
8. Teacher summarizes the lesson on the board by using the lesson evaluation.
Pupil’s Activities – The pupils participate actively in the lesson summary by responding to the most of the questions and writes as instructed.
CONCLUSION
To conclude the lesson for the week, the teacher revises the entire lesson and links it to the following week’s lesson.
