CONTENT OF THE LESSON
LESSON 1 – INTRODUCTION (MEANING OF GOVERNANCE)
A governance is the act of ruling or governing. It is a system whereby group of people making decisions that affect the state or organisations either positively or negatively.
MEANING OF A GOOD GOVERNANCE
A good governance is how the government exercises its power and fulfills its responsibilities. It ensures that decision-making processes are fair and inclusive, and that the interests of all citizens are considered and protected at home and abroad.
When governments practice good governance, it promotes social justice, economic growth, and political stability. It also helps to prevent corruption and abuse of power, and ensures that resources are managed and distributed in a fair and equitable manner.
CHARACTERISTICS OF A GOOD GOVERNANCE
The characteristics of a good governance are as follows:
1. Good governance respects for human rights.
2. Good governance fellows/obeys the rule of law.
3. Good governance strengthens democracy.
4. Good governance promotes transparency and capacity in public administration.
5. Good governance reduces/eradicates poverty by promoting growth and development.
6. Good governance ensures accountability.
7. Good governance mobilizes the people of a country in the best direction possible.
8. Good governance unites of people in society.
9. Good governance motivates them to attain political objectivity.
LESSON 2 – REVISION OF LESSON 1
LESSON 3 – WEEKLY ASSESSMENT – As stated in the performance objectives or lesson evaluation.
PRESENTATION
To deliver the lesson, the teacher adopts the following steps – he/she,
1. Revises the previous lesson based on the pupil’s related knowledge or experience.
2. Teacher organizes the pupils in group depending on the size of class.
3. Teacher displays chart showing organized group of people in a conference room.
3. Teacher lets the pupils examine and state the importance of meeting.
Pupil’s Activities – The pupils discuss the importance of meeting.
4. Teacher uses the chart and the pupil’s relevant responses to introduce the lesson and leads a class discussion on the meaning and characteristics of a good governance.
Pupil’s Activities – The pupils listen and pay attention to the lesson introduction and participate actively in the class discussion of good governance.
5. Teacher leads a class discussion on the meaning of governance and good governance.
Pupil’s Activities – The pupils participate actively in the class discussion by differentiate between good governance.
6. Teacher organizes the class in group to demonstrate good governance.
Pupil’s Activities – The pupils as groups demonstrate a good governance according to their roles.
7. Teacher summarizes the lesson on the board using appropriate lesson evaluation.
Pupil’s Activities – The pupils participate actively in the summary by responding correctly to the questions and write as instructed.
