CONTENT OF THE LESSON  

LESSON 1 – INTRODUCTION 

A governance is a system where group of people regulate and manage public affairs by making policies that can affect the state or organization.

 

MEANING OF GOVERNANCE STRUCTURE 

 

Governance structure is the arrangement or relationship between different groups of people that regulating public affairs such as policy making, implementation and interpretation.

Each each group is essential to the role played in governance as a life sustain the system.

LESSON 2 – TYPES OF GOVERNANCE STRUCTURE

1. LEGISLATION 

A legislature is the type of governance with the authority to make laws for a political or organizational entity such as a country or city.

For examples – the senators and house of representatives.

 

2. EXECUTIVE 

An executive is the type of governance with the authority to implement laws make by the legislature.

 

For example – the Senate, House of Representatives, State House of Assembly, Councilors, etc.

 

3. JUDICIARY 

A judiciary is the type of governance with the authority to interpret laws make by the legislature and implemented by the executive.

For example – the supreme court and other federal courts.

 

PRESENTATION

To deliver the lesson, the teacher adopts the following steps – he/she,

1. Revises the previous lesson based on the pupil’s related knowledge or experience.

2. Displays chart showing each type of governance structure.

3. Lets pupils identify each types and find out the meaning in the dictionary.

Pupil’s Activities – Find the meaning of legislature, executive and judiciary.

4. Uses the chart and their finding to introduce and lead a discussion on the meaning and types of governance structure with appropriate examples.

Pupil’s Activities – Participate actively in the class discussion.

5. Guides pupils to identify each governance structure in their school system, community, government and organization.

Pupil’s Activities – Identify the school, community, government and organizational structure.

6. Summarizes the lesson on the board.

Pupil’s Activities – Participate actively in the summary and write as instructed.
