CONTENT OF THE LESSON

LESSON 1 – INTRODUCTION 

Parts of a computer are external devices that makes the computers to work well. There are many parts of a computer.

Some common computer peripherals include –

1. Monitor

2. System Unit

3. Keyboard

4. Mouse

5. Webcam

6. Scanner

7. Monitor

8. Printer

9. Speaker

10. USB drive or flash drive

11. Hard disk

12. OTG and USB cable

13. Microphone

 

LESSON 2 – USES/FUNCTIONS OF PARTS OF A COMPUTER 

MONITOR

A monitor looks like a television set but it is not a television. The monitor helps us to see what we type into the computer as texts, numbers, pictures, drawings, etc. It shows everything we type.

Computer monitor is used for playing games and watching movies.

 

SYSTEM UNIT

A system unit is the brain of a computer. The brain of a computer is inside the system unit. It is also called Central Processing Unit (CPU).

 

KEYBOARD

The keyboard is like a typewriter. It is used to enter letters, numbers, and symbols into the computer.

 

MOUSE

The mouse is a point, click and drag device. It has two buttons and a scroll wheel between them.

 

SCANNER 

The scanner is used to scan and send documents and pictures into the computer. The documents can be used as soft copy.

 

PRINTER

The printer is used to print out documents and pictures from the computer.

 

SPEAKER

The computer speakers helps us to hear the music we play from the computer. It is also help us to hear computer sound when we are sending or receiving information.

 

USB DRIVE OR FLASH DRIVE

The USB drive is used to store data. It is also used transfer data from one computer to another. The USB drive is also called flash drive.

 

HARD DISK 

The hard disk is a storage device inside a computer. It is used to store and retrieve data.

 

OTG AND USB CABLE 

OTG and USB cable are used to connect mobile devices such as phones and tables with a computer.

 

MICROPHONE 

A microphone is used to make a sound of a voice more louder.

 

LESSON 3 – REVISION AND WEEKLY ASSESSMENT 

As stated in performance objectives or lesson evaluation. 

 

PRESENTATION

To deliver the lesson, the teacher adopts the following steps:

1. To introduce the lesson, the teacher revises the previous lesson. Based on this, he/she asks the pupils some questions;

2. Teacher organizes the pupils in groups or pair depending on the size of the class.

3. Teacher displays a functional computer (if available) or chart showing different parts of a computer for the pupils as groups to identify, describe and state their uses.

Pupil’s Activities – The pupils identify and describe describe some of the parts of a computer.

4. Teacher uses the functional computer or the chart to introduce the lesson – Parts of a Computer.

Pupil’s Activities – The pupils pay attention to the lesson introduction.

5. Teacher leads a class discussion on each part of a computer.

Pupil’s Activities – The pupils participate actively in the class discussion to identify and describe most of the parts of a computer.

6. If a functional computer is available, teacher guides the pupils on how to use some of the parts of the computer.

Pupil’s Activities – The pupils appreciate the importance of different parts of a computer.

7. Teacher summarizes the lesson on the board with appropriate evaluation.

Pupil’s Activities – The pupils participate actively in the summary of the lesson by responding correctly to most of the questions write as instructed.

 

CONCLUSION

To conclude the lesson for the week, the teacher revises the entire lesson and links it to the following week’s lesson.
