By the end of the lesson, most of the pupils should have attained the following objectives –
1. Read poems fluently.
2. Identify rhymes in poems.
3. Identify and discuss the theme/subject matter of the poem.
4. Dramatize the poem.

The teacher will teach the lesson with the aid of Approved book of poems and pictures of objects in the poem.

Choose a suitable and appropriate methods for the lessons.
Note – Irrespective of choosing methods of teaching, always introduce an activities that will arouse pupil’s interest or lead them to the lessons.

PRESENTATION
To deliver the lesson, the teacher adopts the following steps:
1. To introduce the lesson, the teacher revises the previous lesson. Based on this, he/she asks the pupils some questions;
2. Writes poem on a cardboard.
Pupil’s Activities – Read the poem after the teacher’s model.
3. Supervises pupils reading the poem after teacher’s model reading.
Pupil’s Activities – Dramatize the poem, if possible.
4. Discusses the theme or subject matter of the poem.
Pupil’s Activities – Discuss the content or subject matter of the poem while the teacher guide.
5. Asks questions to bring out the positive value discussed in the poem.
Pupil’s Activities – Say in turns what they enjoy in the poem. Memorize the poem, if possible.
CONCLUSION
- To conclude the lesson for the week, the teacher revises the entire lesson and links it to the following week’s lesson.
