CONTENT OF THE LESSON  

LESSON 1 – INTRODUCTION

A ball games are games that are played with a ball such as tennis, baseball, and football. Most sports are played by either throwing or hitting balls. Nowadays, sports with balls, such as tennis, baseball, hockey, cricket, and football, are the most famous, with millions of fans worldwide.

 

TYPES OF BALL GAMES

1. Football

2. Table tennis

3. Basketball

4. Volleyball

5. Handball

6. Hockey

7. Golf

8. Cricket

9. Beach ball

10. Baseball, etc.

 

LESSON 2 – MEANING OF SAFETY RULES IN BALL GAMES

Safety rules in ball games are sets of instructions that ensure the safety of the players during ball game trainings or competitions. These rules reduce or prevent hazard that could result in injury and illness.

 

SAFETY RULES IN BALL GAMES

The following safety tips can help protect you from injuries during training and games –

1. Know the rules of the game and follow them.

2. Make sure the environment is not wet and the game equipments are ok.

3. Get first aid kit available at practices and games.

4. Use appropriate skills.

5. Stop training and games if you get hurt or feel pain.

6. Stop playing if you are tired or injured.

7. Get rest after trainings and games.

8. Be sure that the ball games courts or fields are in good order.

9. Limit the number of contact during practices.

10. Use standard and appropriate ball games kits or equipments.

11. Respect the referees and don’t argue with them.

To deliver the lesson, the teacher adopts the following steps:

1. To introduce the lesson, the teacher revises the previous lesson. Based on this, he/she asks the pupils some questions;

2. Teacher organizes the pupils in groups depending on the size of the class.

3. Teacher displays chart showing different forms of injuries in the ball games.

4. Teacher allows the pupils to identify and discuss different forms of danger in ball games.

Pupil’s Activities – The pupils identify common dangers in ball games.

5. Teacher uses the chart and the pupils relevant responses to introduce the lesson and leads a class discussion on Safety Rules in Ball Games.

Pupil’s Activities – The pupils pay attention to the lesson introduction, participate actively in the class discussion and appreciate the importance of safety rules in ball games.

6. Teacher summarizes the lesson on the board by using the lesson evaluation.
