PERFORMANCE OBJECTIVES

By the end of the lesson, the pupils should have attained the following objectives –

1. identify folk songs.

2. discuss the moral lesson in each folk songs.

3. sing local songs and recite rhymes that teach cultural values of the society.

 

 

ENTRY BEHAVIOUR

The pupils can read a picture story.

 

 

INSTRUCTIONAL MATERIALS

The teacher will teach the lesson with the aid of chart showing different traditional folksong dance.

 

 

METHOD OF TEACHING

Choose a suitable and appropriate methods for the lessons.

Note – Irrespective of choosing methods of teaching, always introduce an activities that will arouse pupil’s interest or lead them to the lessons.

CONTENT OF THE LESSON

INTRODUCTION 

Folk songs are traditional songs that are used for teaching morality. It is peculiar to a group of people or tribe. It is also known as traditional or tribal songs. For example,

PRESENTATION

To deliver the lesson, the teacher adopts the following steps:

1. To introduce the lesson, the teacher revises the previous lesson based on what he/she taught or what the pupils have learned.

2. Teacher uses mp3 player to play common traditional folksongs.

3. Teacher sings the folksongs as the mp3 played with body motion and motivates the pupils to sing along.

Pupil’s Activities – The pupils sing folksongs with body motion.

4. Teacher explains the importance of folktales and guides the pupils to identify and state the moral lessons in each of them.

Pupil’s Activities – The pupils state the moral lessons in the folksongs.

5. Teacher summarizes the lesson on the board in a very simple sentence using appropriate lesson evaluation.

Pupil’s Activities – The pupils participate actively in the summary by responding correctly to the questions and write as instructed.

 

 

CONCLUSION

To conclude the lesson for the week, the teacher revises the entire lesson and links it to the following week’s lesson.
