PERFORMANCE OBJECTIVES

By the end of the lesson, the pupils should have attained the following objectives (cognitive, affective and psychomotor) and should be able to:

1. mention sources of information;

2. give examples of each source of information.

 

INSTRUCTIONAL MATERIALS

The teacher will teach the lesson with the aid of:

1. Radio

2. Television

3. Newspaper/magazine

4. Computer System

5. Charts/Pictures.

 

METHOD OF TEACHING – Choose a suitable and appropriate methods for the lessons.

Note – Irrespective of choosing methods of teaching, always introduce an activities that will arouse pupil’s interest or lead them to the lessons.

CONTENT OF THE LESSON 

LESSON ONE – INTRODUCTION

Information is data processed and organized facts into meaningful and useful information.

Types of information include: Oral/unwritten, Written, Images, Signs/symbols, Electronic.

 

 

WEEK 1 – SOURCES OF INFORMATION 

The source of computer are –

1. Radio

  • Brilla fm
  • Bond fm
  • Raypower
  • Classic fm
  • Smooth fm, etc.

 

2. Television

  • NTA
  • AIT
  • Channel TV
  • Ltv
  • Mitv, etc.

 

Teacher’s Activities – Allows the pupils to give examples of radio, television, newspapers and computer with internet. 

 

LESSON TWO – WEEKLY ASSESSMENT

As stated in performance objectives or lesson evaluation.

 

WEEK 8 – SOURCES OF INFORMATION

Teacher’s Activities – Allows the pupils to give examples of radio, television, newspapers and computer with internet. 

 

WEEKLY ASSESSMENT – As stated in performance objectives or lesson evaluation. 

 

 

PRESENTATION

To deliver the lesson, the teacher adopts the following steps:

1. To introduce the lesson, the teacher revises the previous lesson. Based on this, he/she asks the pupils some questions;

2. Brings some information devices to the classroom and shows them to the pupils.

Pupil’s Activities – Observe and make use of information devices.

3. Guides pupils identify source of information;

Pupil’s Activities – Identify source of information.

4. Guides pupils to give examples for each source of information;

Pupil’s Activities – Give examples for each source of information.

5. Demonstrates the uses of computer as a source of information.

Pupil’s Activities – Use keyboard to enter data.

 

CONCLUSION

  • To conclude the lesson for the week, the teacher revises the entire lesson and links it to the following week’s lesson.

 

LESSON EVALUATION

Pupils to:

1. list three sources of information.

2. give 2 examples for each source of information.

3. list three ways computer can be used as a source of information.

4. use keyboard to enter characters as data.
