CONTENT OF THE LESSON

LESSON 1 – INTRODUCTION (FOOTBALL) 

Football is a game played by two teams, eleven players each using a ball. Football game is played by kicking the ball to each other of the same team and try scoring goals into a wide net by kicking the ball.

Football is the most played game in the world, and there is lot of followers in the world for the game.

Football game in which two teams of 11 players.

 

BASIC SKILLS IN FOOTBALL 

1. DRIBBLING

Dribbling is probably one of the most fundamental and basic skill in football.

 

 

This is a movement that keeps the ball at the feet of the player preventing the opponent from getting the ball.

 

2. SHOOTING

Shooting is a major part of the game. It involves kicking a ball a desirable direction.

To shoot the ball, players kick the ball to clear, score a goal or pass to a teammate.

 

3. DEFENDING

Defending is an important skill in football especially if a team desire to win a game. It involves stopping the opponent from getting close to the goal post.

Every player on the football pitch has to learn how to defender, not just the defender. A good team has its first line of defence from the striker and forward lines.

 

4. PASSING

This involves playing the ball perfectly to a teammate in the process of undertaking the goal of the team which is the plant the ball in the opposition’s net. Passing is important in football because it keeps the ball with a team. It is important in football because a good player is required to know how to pass the ball no matter the position they play.

The ability to control a moving football is essential no matter what position you play in.

 

5. BALL CONTROL

The ability to control a moving football is essential no matter what position you play in.

 

 

Just like passing, ball control forms the foundation of football. If you don’t know how to control a ball successfully, your performance on the soccer field will not be any good.

 

6. GOALKEEPING

This is one of the basic skills of football.

The goalkeeper is the last line of defence of every team.

His job is simply to stop the opposition from scoring when the ball has gone past all his teammates.

 

PRESENTATION

To introduce the lesson, the teacher revises the previous lesson. Based on this, he/she asks the pupils some questions;

1. Explains and demonstrates the skills in football;
