LEARNING OBJECTIVES

By the end of the lesson, students should be able to:

1. state meaning of fake and adulterated goods.

2. mention goods that are often faked and adulterated.

3. state why people sell and distribute fake and adulterated goods.

4. mention the bad effects of the use of fake and adulterated goods.

5. state how to stop faking and adulterating goods.

CONTENTS OF THE LESSON

FOCUS LESSONS 

1. MEANING OF FAKE GOODS

Fake goods can be defined as goods or products that are inferior or sub-standard.

2. MEANING OF ADULTERATED GOODS

Adulterated goods can be defined as goods or products that are made in low quality with the use of inferior materials.

These goods are not good for consumption and any other use.

Fake and adulterated goods are generally bad goods.

3. GOODS OFTEN FAKED AND ADULTERATED 

1. Medicine

4. Fabric products

4. Electronics/electrical products

5. Building materials

6. Tools, etc.

4. REASONS WHY PEOPLE PRODUCE AND DISTRIBUTE FAKE AND ADULTERATED GOODS

• Greed

• Lack of patriotism

• Lack of morals

• Disloyalty

5. HOW TO STOP THE SALE OF FAKE AND ADULTERATED GOODS

1. Be patriotic

2. Show love for your people

3. Be honest

4. Respect authority

5. Know your right as a consumer.

6. Love for other people.

6. GOVERNMENT AGENCIES THAT FIGHT THE PRODUCTION AND DISTRIBUTION of FAKE AND ADULTERATED GOODS

• NAFDAC – National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control.

NAFDAC regulate and control the manufacture, importation, exportation, distribution, advertisement, sale and use of Food, Drugs, Cosmetics, Medical Devices, Packaged Water, Chemicals and Detergents (collectively known as regulated products).

• SON – Standards Organization of Nigeria.

SON is a body in charge of standardization in Nigeria and ensure that goods imported into Nigeria meet the minimum requirements.

• NDLEA – National Drug Law Enforcement Agency.

NDLEA is charged with eliminating the growing, processing, manufacturing, selling, exporting, and trafficking of hard drugs.

Teamwork can be defined as working together with one another.

Also, it means working together or cooperating with other people to achieve the set goals/objectives.

2. IMPORTANCE OF TEAM WORK

1. Teamwork builds self confidence

2. Teamwork builds trust

3. Teamwork saves time

4. Teamwork enables us to learn new things

5. Teamwork promotes and improves communication

6. Teamwork enables us to achieve more.

3. HOW TO ACHIEVE TEAMWORK

Sense of belongings is the feeling of been an important member of an entity.

This is when people feels connected to other peoples at home, school or community.

That’s, knowing where and with whom you belong. For examples,

• Association, etc.
