INTRODUCTION 

Apprenticeship is a traditional system of training a person to learn an art, trade or job by experience under the skilled or professional worker.

TYPES OF APPRENTICESHIP 

1. Father – Son Apprenticeship

2. Mother – Daughter Apprenticeship

3. Master Craftsmanship/Apprenticeship

4. Master Trade Apprenticeship

1. FATHER – SON APPRENTICESHIP

Father – son apprenticeship is the traditional apprenticeship that is mainly for the male(s) in the family.

An outsider may not be accepted.

2. MOTHER – DAUGHTER APPRENTICESHIP 

Mother – son apprenticeship is the traditional apprenticeship that is mainly for the female(s) in the family.

An outsider may not be accepted.

3. MASTER CRAFT APPRENTICESHIP 

Master craft apprenticeship is the traditional apprenticeship where people learn the art of making useful and beautiful things by hands.

When you make things such as hand fan, basket, mat, etc. with your hands, it is called craft.

Craft apprenticeship is open for anyone.

4. MASTER TRADE APPRENTICESHIP 

Master trade apprenticeship is the traditional apprenticeship where people learn the art of buying and selling goods and services.

It is open to anybody.

Each type of apprenticeship is designed to enables the apprentices to learn how to minimize costs and maximize profits.

TRADES WHERE APPRENTICESHIP SYSTEM IS PRACTICED

AIMS AND OBJECTIVES OF APPRENTICESHIP 

The aims and objectives of apprenticeship are as follows:

1. To equal the young ones with useful skills.

2. To build self confidence in the young ones.

3. To minimize cost and maximize profits.

4. To train the young ones who cannot cope with western education.

5. To train the school leavers.

ATTITUDES NEEDED FOR ACQUIRING APPRENTICESHIP SKILLS
