PERFORMANCE OBJECTIVES 

By the end of the lesson, the pupils should be able to –

1. explain what body make-up is.

2. state types of makeup.

3. discuss the importance of makeup.

4. apply makeup on the body.

 

ENTRY BEHAVIOUR

The pupils can identify and describe make up.

 

INSTRUCTIONAL MATERIALS

The teacher will teach the lesson with the aid of pictures of persons wearing traditional make-up materials e.g. tiro, tangele, camwood, ndon or Nzu (white chalk), kaya and kwaliya, Gazar.

 

METHOD OF TEACHING

Choose a suitable and appropriate methods for the lessons.

Note – Irrespective of choosing methods of teaching, always introduce an activities that will arouse pupil’s interest or lead them to the lessons.

CONTENT OF THE LESSON  

LESSON 1 – INTRODUCTION

Body makeup are things that are used on the face and other parts of our body to make us beautiful and attractive. Powder, body cream and lipstick are commonly used as body makeup.

The parts of the body to be beautified are the face, hands and legs.

 

TYPES OF BODY MAKEUP

There are two (2) major types of body makeup – traditional and modern makeup.

1. TRADITIONAL BODY MAKEUP 

Traditional body makeup are the used the local materials to beautified the face and other parts of the body.

Materials used for traditional make-up are Tiro, Osun, Tangele, Cawood, Ndon or Nzu (white chalk), Kaya, Kwaliya and Gazar.

 

2. MODERN BODY MAKEUP 

Modern body makeup are the used the foreign materials to beautified the face and other parts of the body.

Materials used for modern make-up are Face Primer, Foundation, Concealer, Contour, Blush, Highlighter, Bronzer and Makeup setting spray.

 

LESSON 2 – IMPORTANCE OF BODY MAKEUP

The following are the importance of makeup on the body,

1. It gives you more confident.

2. It protects your skin.

3. It enhances your appearance.

4. It makes you look more perfect in the photo.

5. It makes you look younger than your age.

 

BEAUTIFYING THE BODY – PRACTICAL BODY MAKEUP 

Teacher organizes a simple makeup session.

 

LESSON 3 – REVISION AND LESSON EVALUATION 

As stated in the performance objectives or lesson evaluation.

 

PRESENTATION

To deliver the lesson, the teacher adopts the following steps:

1. To introduce the lesson, the teacher revises the previous lesson. Based on this, he/she asks the pupils some questions;

2. Teacher organizes the pupils in groups depending on the size of the class.

3. Teacher displays samples or chart showing different materials used for body makeup.

4. Teacher lets the pupils to identify or discuss the contents as individual or group.

Pupil’s Activities – The pupils identify and differential between tradition and modern materials used for makeup.

5. Teacher uses the samples/chart and the pupils relevant responses to introduce the lesson and leads a class discussion on the meaning and types of makeup.

Pupil’s Activities – The pupils pay attention to the lesson introduction and participate actively in the class discussion on the meaning and types of makeup.

6. Teacher uses chart showing before or after makeup to guide the pupils to identify and discuss the importance of makeup.

Pupil’s Activities – The pupils appreciate the importance of makeup on the body.

7. Teacher organizes the makeup session for the pupils to apply a makeup on the body correctly.

Pupil’s Activities – The pupils participate actively in the makeup session.

8. Teacher summarizes the lesson on the body by using appropriate lesson evaluation.

Pupil’s Activities – The pupils participate actively in the summary of the lesson by correctly respond to the questions and write as instructed.

 

CONCLUSION

To conclude the lesson for the week, the teacher revises the entire lesson and links it to the following week’s lesson.
