CONTENT OF THE LESSON  

LESSON 1 – INTRODUCTION (MEANING OF GOVERNANCE) 

A governance is the act of ruling or governing. It is a system whereby group of people making decisions that affect the state or organisations either positively or negatively.

 

MEANING OF A BAD GOVERNANCE 

A good governance is how the government exercises its power and fulfills its responsibilities. But bad governance is the opposite of good governance. It is characterized by lack of openness and accountability, arbitrary policymaking, and the deception of those who are ruled.

 

 

CHARACTERISTICS OF BAD GOVERNANCE

The characteristics of bad governance are as follows,

1. The rule of law is not follow.

2. No respect for human right.

3. Lack of lack of openness and accountability.

4. Arbitrary policymaking, arrests and the deception of those who are ruled.

5. Restriction of political participation.

6. Lack of separation of powers.

7. Lack of press freedom.

8. Judiciary not independent in bad governance.

9. Lack of freedom association and assembly.

10. Neglect of public welfare.

11. Use of force.

12. Irregular and unfair elections.

 

LESSON 2 – REVISION

PRESENTATION

To deliver the lesson, the teacher adopts the following steps – he/she,

1. Revises the previous lesson based on the pupil’s related knowledge or experience.

2. Teacher organizes the pupils in group depending on the size of class.

3. Teacher displays chart showing meaning and characteristics of good governance.

4. Teacher asks pupils to use the meaning and characteristics of good governance to explain the concept of bad governance.

Pupil’s Activities – The pupils define bad governance.

5. Teacher uses the chart and the pupil’s relevant responses to introduce the lesson and leads a class discussion on the meaning and characteristics of a bad governance.

Pupil’s Activities – The pupils listen and pay attention to the lesson introduction and participate actively in the class discussion of bad governance.

6. Teacher leads a class discussion on the meaning of bad governance.

Pupil’s Activities – The pupils participate actively in the class discussion by differentiate between good and bad governance.

7. Teacher organizes the class in group to demonstrate the characteristics of bad governance.

Pupil’s Activities – The pupils as groups demonstrate a bad governance according to their roles.

8. Teacher summarizes the lesson on the board using appropriate lesson evaluation.

Pupil’s Activities – The pupils participate actively in the summary by responding correctly to the questions and write as instructed.

 

 

CONCLUSION

To conclude the lesson for the week, the teacher revises the entire lesson and links it to the following week’s lesson.
