CONTENT OF THE LESSON 

LESSON 1 – INTRODUCTION

Knitting and crocheting are both fiber arts that are used for creating fabric articles by interlocking loops of yarn or thread using knitting needles or crochet hooks respectively.

 

 

MEANING OF KNITTING

Knitting is a technique where loops of yarn are pulled through each other using knitting needles to create a fabric articles. Knitting articles can be done by hand or with knitting machines and it is commonly used for making clothing, accessories and home decorative items.

The beauty of knitting lies in the ability to create a variety of stitches, patterns, and textures by manipulating the yarn and stitches.

 

MEANING OF CROCHETING 

Crocheting is also a technique in which loops of yarn are pulled through other loops using a crochet hook to create a fabric articles or objects.

1. The beauty of Knitting and crocheting lies in the ability to create a variety of stitches, patterns, and textures by manipulating the yarn and stitches.

2. Both knitting and crocheting commonly used to make clothing, blankets, scarves, toys, and more.

 

DIFFERENT BETWEEN KNITTING AND CROCHETING 

The different between knitting and crocheting are as follows:

1. Crocheted articles have more textured and thicker appearance than knitted articles.

2. Two needles are used in knitting while crocheting uses a single hook.

 

 

PRESENTATION

To deliver the lesson, the teacher adopts the following steps:

1. To introduce the lesson, the teacher revises the previous lesson based on what he/she taught or what the pupils have learned.

2. Teacher organizes pupils in groups or pairs depending on the size of the class and available instructional materials.

3. Teacher displays chart showing articles made from Knitting and crocheting for the pupils as group to identify and discuss how to make them.

4. Teacher listens and participates in the group discussion to related the lesson and broaden the pupils and their group understanding.

Pupil’s Activities – The pupils identify and discuss various parts of the body.

5. Teacher uses the chart and the pupil’s relevant responses to introduce the lesson and leads a class discussion on the meaning of Knitting and crocheting.

Pupil’s Activities – The pupils pay attention to the introduction and participate actively in the class discussion on meaning of Knitting and crocheting.

6. Teacher invites an expert in needle craft to train or demonstrate how to made needle craft articles.
