2. revise the previous tonic Solfa song correctly.

3. pronounce the difficult words in the song correctly.

4. sing the song fluently.

CONTENT OF THE LESSON

LESSONS 1 – INTRODUCTION

Ear training is the ability to recognize music other than notation. It is also known as aural skill. It begins with

1. identifying sounds by ear and naming them

2. transcribing them

3. playing them back

4. singing them

5. singing them at more advanced levels, and

6. improvising upon them according to harmonic rules.

Note – The following songs below required a music teachers. Try to get the needed support from colleagues or expert, if you are not a music teacher.

PRESENTATION

To deliver the lesson, the teacher adopts the following steps:

1. To introduce the lesson, the teacher revises the previous lesson. Based on this, he/she asks the pupils some questions;

2. Teacher organizes the pupils in groups depending on the size of the class.

3. Teacher silently plays a familiar song and gradually increase the volume in order to get the attention of the pupils.

Pupil’s Activities – The pupils sing and dance alongside with their teacher.

4. Teacher leads the pupils to sing and itemized the lyrics of the song.

5. Teacher uses the song and the pupils relevant responses to introduce the lesson and appreciate their listen hear.

Pupil’s Activities – The pupils pay attention to the lesson introduction and participate actively in the class discussion.

6. Teacher leads the pupils to sing other songs with tonic solfa (if he/she is a music expert) or invites the music teacher from colleagues and friends.

Pupil’s Activities – The pupils sing songs with tonic solfa.

6. Teacher summarizes the lesson on the board using appropriate lesson evaluation.

Pupil’s Activities – The pupils participate in the summary of the lesson by responding correctly to the questions and write or draw as instructed.

 

CONCLUSION

To conclude the lesson for the week, the teacher revises the entire lesson and links it to the following week’s lesson.
