PERFORMANCE OBJECTIVES 

By the end of the lesson, the pupils should have attained the following objectives (cognitive, affective and psychomotor) and should be able to state why we eat food.

 

ENTRY BEHAVIOUR

The pupils can state one or more reasons we eat food.

 

INSTRUCTIONAL MATERIALS

The teacher will teach the lesson with the aid of chart showing some of the children favourite food.

 

 

METHOD OF TEACHING

Choose a suitable and appropriate methods for the lessons.

Note – Irrespective of choosing methods of teaching, always introduce an activities that will arouse pupil’s interest or lead them to the lessons.

CONTENT OF THE LESSON

LESSON 1 – INTRODUCTORY ACTIVITIES 

Food are items eaten by people and animals in order to live. Ask the pupils to state other reasons we eat food.

 

WHY WE EAT FOOD

The reasons we eat food are –

1. to stay alive.

2. to grow well.

3. for energy.

4. to protect our body against diseases.

 

ASSIGNMENT

Make a list of food we get from plants and animals.

 

PRESENTATION

To deliver the lesson, the teacher adopts the following steps:

1. To introduce the lesson, the teacher revises the previous lesson. Based on this, he/she asks the pupils some questions;

2. Asks pupils to state the reasons for eating foods.

Pupil’s Activities – State the reasons for eating foods.

3. Summarizes the lesson on the board.

Pupil’s Activities – Copy as the teacher writes.

 

CONCLUSION

To conclude the lesson for the week, the teacher revises the entire lesson and links it to the following week’s lesson.
