PERFORMANCE OBJECTIVES

ENTRY BEHAVIOUR
The pupils can identify security agencies and state their duties and responsibilities.
INSTRUCTIONAL MATERIALS
The teacher will teach the lesson with the aid of chart showing active security at work.

Choose a suitable and appropriate methods for the lessons.
Note – Irrespective of choosing methods of teaching, always introduce an activities that will arouse pupil’s interest or lead them to the lessons.

CONTENT OF THE LESSON
LESSON 1 – INTRODUCTION
MEANING OF SECURITY
Security is the state of being free from all dangers or harms at home, in the school or anywhere you are. That’s, feeling safe at all time.
For example, when you at home with the doors or gate are locked and you feel free, safe and relax.
Insecurity is when you are not feeling safe or free from dangers.
ELEMENTS OF A GOOD SECURITY
1. Availability

4. Confidentiality
5. Protection
6. Utility
7. Reaction
8. Investigation
LESSON 2 – ELEMENTS OF SECURITY
1. AVAILABILITY
Availability means when something is available and ready to use.
2. INTEGRITY
Integrate means doing the right things at all time.
3. AUTHENTICITY
Authenticity means something is true and genuine or real.
4. CONFIDENTIALITY
Confidentiality means ability to keep a secret.
5. PROTECTION
Protection means to keep something safe.
6. UTILITY
Utility means to be useful at all time.
7. REACTION
Reaction means ability to take action.
8. INVESTIGATION
Investigation mean to find out about something.
LESSON 3 – REVISION AND WEEKLY ASSESSMENT
PRESENTATION
To deliver the lesson, the teacher adopts the following steps:
1. To introduce the lesson, the teacher revises the previous lesson. Based on this, he/she asks the pupils some questions;
2. Teacher displays chart showing active policeman, solder and security guard at work.
3. Teacher lets the pupils identify the security agencies and state their basic duties and responsibilities.
Pupil’s Activities – The learners identify the Nigerian security and their duties and responsibilities.
4. Teacher listens to the pupils and uses their relevant responses to introduce the lesson – meaning and element of security.
Pupil’s Activities – The learners pay attention to the lesson introduction to understanding the concepts of the lesson.
5. Teacher leads pupils to explains the meaning of security.
Pupil’s Activities – The learners follow the teacher’s lead to explain the meaning of security.
6. Teacher asks pupils state the reasons why we need the security.
Pupil’s Activities – The learners state the reasons why we need the security.
7. Teacher uses the pupils relevant responses to introduce the elements of security.
Pupil’s Activities – The learners pay attention to the introduction – elements of security.
8. Teacher explains the elements of security.
Pupil’s Activities – The learners listen to the teacher explanation.
9. Summarizes the lessons on the board using appropriate lesson evaluation.
Pupil’s Activities – The learners participate actively in the summary of the lesson by responding correctly to the questions and write as instructed.
CONCLUSION
To conclude the lesson for the week, the teacher revises the entire lesson and links it to the following week’s lesson.
