LEARNING OBJECTIVES 

By the end of the lesson, most pupils should have attained the following objectives outline basic safety procedures of a computer.

 

ENTRY BEHAVIOUR

The pupils can identify computer system.

 

INSTRUCTIONAL MATERIALS

The teacher will teach the lesson with the aid of functional computer system.

 

METHOD OF TEACHING

Choose a suitable and appropriate methods for the lessons. Note – Irrespective of choosing methods of teaching, always introduce an activities that will arouse pupil’s interest or lead them to the lessons.

CONTENT OF THE LESSON

LESSON 1 – INTRODUCTION 

A computer is an electronic device that accept data (input), process it and generate result (output). A computer along with additional hardware and software together is called a computer system.

The safety of our computer system is the safety of our personal information. It is very important to protect our computer system from damage, theft and unauthorized use.

We can protect our computer system by taken the following steps:

1. Carefully unpack the computer system from the box.

2. Read the manual carefully.

3. Connecting the computer system correctly.

4. Connect the computer with Uninterruptible Power Supply (UPS).

5. Handle all parts with care.

6. Fully shut down when you are not using it.

7. Do not operate the computer with a wet hands.

 

LESSON 2 – BASIC SAFETY FOR COMPUTER SYSTEM (CONTINUATION)

8. Do not eat and drink in the computer room or when operating the computer.

9. Fully shut down and unplug the computer before you make any attempts to disassemble the tower.

10. The computer room must be well ventilate.

11. The computers must be dust free.

12. Install anti-virus protect your information.

13. Setup a password that you can easy remember but difficult for other.

14. Keep all software up to date.

15. Don’t use USBs or other external devices unless you own them.

 

LESSON 3 – REVISION AND WEEKLY ASSESSMENT 

As stated in performance objectives or lesson evaluation. 

 

PRESENTATION

To deliver the lesson, the teacher adopts the following steps:

1. To introduce the lesson, the teacher revises the previous lesson. Based on this, he/she asks the pupils some questions;

2. Teacher organizes the pupils in groups or pair depending on the size of the class.

3. Teacher displays a functional computer (if available) or chart showing different computer systems and asks the pupils, how can we protect our computer system.

Pupil’s Activities – The pupils state and discuss how computer systems can be protest.

4. Teacher uses the functional computer or the chart with the pupils relevant responses to introduce the lesson – Basic Safety For Computer Systems.

Pupil’s Activities – The pupils pay attention to the lesson introduction.

5. Teacher leads a class discussion on how we can protect our computer systems.

Pupil’s Activities – The pupils participate actively in the class discussion to identify and describe basic safety for computer systems.

6. Teacher summarizes the lesson on the board with appropriate evaluation.

Pupil’s Activities – The pupils participate actively in the summary of the lesson by responding correctly to most of the questions write as instructed.

 

CONCLUSION

To conclude the lesson for the week, the teacher revises the entire lesson and links it to the following week’s lesson.
