CONTENT OF THE LESSON

LESSON 1 – INTRODUCTION (THE POLICE) 

Don’t hesitate to report suspicious movement to the police, even if you are unsure as to what is going on, the best thing to do is to let appropriate government agencies or officers investigate. Suspicious movement can be any movement that is out of place and does not fit into the usual day-to-day activity of our community. You may help prevent violence or theft.

Reporting will give police and security important data to identify trends and make decisions about when and where to deploy patrols. For example, you see someone looking into multiple vehicles or homes or testing to see if they are unlocked and so on.

Students, parents, school, staff and visitors can help protect our community by learning to recognize and report suspicious movement or activity. Prompt and detailed reporting can help prevent crimes or terrorist attacks.

 

CONSEQUENCES OF NOT REPORTING SUSPICIOUS MOVEMENT 

It is very dangerous not to report a suspicious movement. This is because unreported suspicious movement can lead to murder, rape, sex abuse, child abuse, kidnap, robbery, burglary, etc.

1. Murder is an unlawful killing of one human being by another.

2. Rape is the used force to have sex with someone.

3. Sex abuse is a sexual activities that is against someone wish or interest such as unwanted kissing, touching, hugging, attempted rape, etc.

4. child abuse is any form of maltreatment or neglect of a child/ren most especially by their parents, caregiver or guidance.

5. Kidnap means taking someone away illegally by using force mainly for ransom or revenge.

6. Robbery is the used of force to take away other people’s possession.

7. Burglary is an illegal entry of a building with intention to steal.

8. Terrorist is the used of violent to create post traumatic stress disorders, fear and anxiety and major depression among the people.

9. Ritual is the used of people for sacrifice.

10. Slave trade is the used of human being for commercial purposes.

11. Bullying is the used of force to threaten or intimidate the weak.

12. Informant is a person who gives information to another. Informants are secret agencies in government used for gathering information or investigation. Some informants are criminals who gather information for the purpose of committing murder, stealing, terrorism, burglary, human trafficking, etc.

 

LESSON 2 – IMPORTANCE OF REPORTING SUSPICIOUS MOVEMENT

Reporting suspicious movements can be used to prevent or  investigate crimes. Reporting any suspicious movements are very important because it helps,

1. To save life and prosperity.

2. To prevent future crimes.

3. To discourage crimes.

4. To ensure justice for all.

5. To restore the victim’s faith in judiciary.

6. To send signal to the criminal minded people.

7. To promote peace and unity.

8. To maintain law and order.

 

LESSON 3 – REVISION AND WEEKLY ASSESSMENT (TEST) 

 

PRESENTATION

To deliver the lesson, the teacher adopts the following steps:

1. To introduce the lesson, the teacher revises the previous lesson. Based on this, he/she asks the pupils some questions;

2. Teacher organizes pupils in groups or pairs depending on the size of the class and available instructional materials.

3. Teacher tell a story of reported or unreported suspicious movement.

4. Teacher asks pupils to state the moral lesson of the story.

Pupil’s Activities – The pupils listen and state the moral lesson of the story.

5. Teacher uses the story and relevant responses of the pupils to introduce and a leads a class discussion on the importance of reporting all suspicious movements and its dangers if not reported.

Pupil’s Activities – Thea pay attention to the lesson introduction and participate actively in the class discussion by analyzing the importance of reporting all suspicious movements and its dangers if not reported.

6. Teacher guides pupils to state appropriate people to report suspected movements to.

Pupil’s Activities – Learners  state appropriate people to report suspected movements to.

7. Teacher summarizes each lesson on the board with appropriate lesson evaluation.

Pupil’s Activities – The pupils participate actively in the summary of the lesson by responding correctly to the questions and write as instructed.
