LEARNING OBJECTIVES 

By the end of the lesson, most pupils should have attained the following objectives –

1. list of government emergency lines.

2. enumerate emergency lines of the following security organizations e.g. inspector general of police, (IGP) 08059666666 (sms Only), State security service (SSS) 08132222105-9, FRSC 122, 07002255372.

3. state the importance of government emergency lines.

4. justify the importance of different government agencies emergency lines in their community.

The pupils can state the uses of mobile phone.

CONTENT OF THE LESSON

LESSON 1 – INTRODUCTION 

Emergency phone numbers are numbers that allow you to contact local emergency services such as local ambulance, fire department, police department, physician, etc. for assistance.

Government emergency lines are lines that allow you to contact each of government agencies directly apart from using 112 emergency phone number.

 

 

GOVERNMENT EMERGENCY LINES OR PHONE NUMBERS

112 is the most common emergency line owned and managed by government. It can be used to reach out to most of the all government agencies both at federal, state and local government.

Other government emergency lines are used to reach out to different agencies directly. Most of the lines are not toll free.

LESSON 2 – IMPORTANCE OF GOVERNMENT EMERGENCY LINES 

The 122 emergency number will enable Nigerians to have access to emergency service agencies for quick and timely response to all forms of emergency situations such as

1. road accidents, fire outbreaks, burglary, medical emergencies, and recently we have kidnappings, banditry, etc.

2. prevention of fatalities and injuries.

3. reducing damage to buildings, stock, and equipment by fire outbreak and others.

4. protecting the environment and the community from kidnappers, banditry, street fighter and robbery.

5. accelerating the resumption of normal activities.

6. administering first aid to injured.

 

 

LESSON 3 – REVISION AND WEEKLY ASSESSMENT 

As stated in performance objectives or lesson evaluation. 

 

 

PRESENTATION

To deliver the lesson, the teacher adopts the following steps:

1. To introduce the lesson, the teacher revises the previous lesson. Based on this, he/she asks the pupils some questions;

2. Teacher organizes the pupils in groups or pair depending on the size of the class.

3. Teacher asks the pupils if they know the phone number of the DPO of their community’s police station.

Pupil’s Activities – Yes or No response. If yes, say it.

4. Teacher uses the pupil’s responses to introduce the lesson and displays chart showing government emergency lines.

Pupil’s Activities – The pupils attention to the lesson introduction to understand the concept of the lesson.

5. Teacher discuss with the pupils important government emergency lines other than 112 and FRSC 122.

Pupil’s Activities – The pupils appreciate and justify the importance of government emergency lines in their community.

6. Teacher guides pupils to point out the government emergency number and codes as a country.

Pupil’s Activities – The pupils as groups discuss and point out through their leaders the emergency number and codes as a country.

7. Teacher leads a class discussion on the differences between government agencies mentioned.

Pupil’s Activities – The pupils groups compare the differences between the government agencies mentioned.

8. Teacher summarizes the lesson on the board with appropriate evaluation.

Pupil’s Activities – The pupils participate actively in the summary of the lesson by responding correctly to most of the questions write as instructed.

 

 

CONCLUSION

To conclude the lesson for the week, the teacher revises the entire lesson and links it to the following week’s lesson.
