PERFORMANCE OBJECTIVES
By the end of the lesson, most of the pupils should have attained the following objectives –
1. identify simple farm tools.
2. identify cutting tools among other tools.
ENTRY BEHAVIOUR
The pupils can identify cutting tools like cutlass and knife.
INSTRUCTIONAL MATERIALS
The teacher will teach the lesson with the aid of samples of simple farm tools such as cutlass, sickle, axe, hoe, shovel, spade, hand fork, garden trowel, pick axe, basket, head pan, wheel barrow, garden fork, rake and watering can.
METHOD OF TEACHING
Choose a suitable and appropriate methods for the lessons.
Note – Irrespective of choosing methods of teaching, always introduce an activities that will arouse pupil’s interest or lead them to the lessons.

CONTENT OF THE LESSON
INTRODUCTION
Simple farm cutting tools are farm tools used for cutting.
SIMPLE FARM CUTTING TOOLS
1. Cutlass
2. Sickle
3. Axe
4. Knife
5. Hedge shear or flowering scissor, etc.
USES OF FARM CUTTING TOOLS
1. Cutlass
- Cutlass is used for cleaning grassland.
- Cutlass is used for cutting trees.
- Cutlass is used for planting.
- Cutlass is used for cutting plant stems.
- Cutlass is used for harvesting.
2. Knife
- Knife is used for cutting crops for planting. For example, yam.
- Knife is used for harvesting vegetables.
3. Axe
- Axe is used for cutting trees.
- Axe is used for slicing woods into pieces.
4. Hedge shear
- Hedge shear is used for shaping plant flowers.
5. Sickle
- Sickle is used for harvesting rice, vegetables, etc.
Note – Engage the pupils to identify and state the uses of some of the simple farm cutting tools. Show and tell them the used of those tools unable to state their uses. If available, demonstrate the uses of some of cutting tools.
PRESENTATION
To deliver the lesson, the teacher adopts the following steps:
1. To introduce the lesson, the teacher revises the previous lesson. Based on this, he/she asks the pupils some questions;
2. Displays sample of simple tools for cutting or chart showing different simple tools for cutting.
3. Lets pupils Identify each cutting tools.
Pupil’s Activities – Identify each of the simple tools for cutting.
3. Uses the sample or chart to discuss the meaning and uses of cutting tools.
Pupil’s Activities – Participate actively in the class discussion.
5. Summarizes the lesson on the board.
Pupil’s Activities – Copy as instructed.
CONCLUSION
- To conclude the lesson for the week, the teacher revises the entire lesson and links it to the following week’s lesson.
