PERFORMANCE OBJECTIVES 

By the end of the lesson, the pupils should have attained the following objectives (cognitive, affective and psychomotor) and should be able to –

1. explore and identify different colours.

2. search for and collect materials of different colours.

3. drawing materials – book, pen, ruler and colour pen or water colour.

4. draw objects and use different colours to paint them.

 

ENTRY BEHAVIOUR

The pupils can identify objects with colour.

 

INSTRUCTIONAL MATERIALS

The teacher will teach the lesson with the aid of:

1. toys and objects of different colours.

2. chart showing shapes of different colours.

 

METHOD OF TEACHING

Choose a suitable and appropriate methods for the lessons.

LESSON 1 – INTRODUCTION

WHAT IS YOUR FAVOURITE COLOUR? 

We all have the colour we like best. One person may like blue colour, another may like red best and yet another may like green colour.

LESSON 3 – DRAW AND COLOUR 

Teacher asks the pupils to draw and colour two or more objects of their choice.

 

REVISION AND WEEK LESSON ASSESSMENT 

As stated in performance objectives or lesson evaluation. 

 

PRESENTATION

To deliver the lesson, the teacher adopts the following steps:

1. To introduce the lesson, the teacher revises the previous lesson. Based on this, he/she asks the pupils some questions;

2. Teacher organizes the pupils in groups depending on the size of the class.

3. Teacher displays chart showing objects with different colours for the pupils in groups to identify each object with its name. For example, black shoe.

Pupil’s Activities – The pupils identify objects with colour.

4. Teacher uses the chart and the groups responses to introduce the lesson – Identification of Colour.

Pupil’s Activities – The pupils pay attention to the lesson introduction.

5. Teacher guides the pupils to identify major colours such as red, blue, white, green and black.

Pupil’s Activities – The pupils identify major colour red, blue, white, green and black.

6. Teacher leads pupils to identify objects with colours. For example, red tomato.

Pupil’s Activities – The pupils identify objects with colours.

7. Tecaher asks pupils to draw and colour objects like house, ball, car, etc. with a specific colour. For example, draw a house with green colour.

Pupil’s Activities – The pupils draw and colour objects as instructed.

8. Teacher summarizes the lesson on the board by using the lesson evaluation.

Pupil’s Activities – The pupils participate actively in the lesson summary by responding to the most of the questions and writes as instructed.

 

CONCLUSION

To conclude the lesson for the week, the teacher revises the entire lesson and links it to the following week’s lesson.
