LEARNING OBJECTIVES 

By the end of the lesson, most pupils should have attained the following objectives –

1. explain the meaning of danger.

2. mention sources of danger.

3. discuss some of the sources of danger.

ENTRY BEHAVIOUR

The pupils can describe fire as source of danger.

INSTRUCTIONAL MATERIALS

The teacher will teach the lesson with the aid of showing some of the sources of danger.

METHOD OF TEACHING

Choose a suitable and appropriate methods for the lessons.

Note – Irrespective of choosing methods of teaching, always introduce an activities that will arouse pupil’s interest or lead them to the lessons.

CONTENT OF THE LESSON

LESSON 1 – INTRODUCTION 

INTRODUCTION TO DANGER 

Danger is the possibility that something harmful will happen. There are things we must avoid or take serious because these things can cause injuries, harm, kill, damage or destroy if we are careless about them. For examples – fire, blade, etc.

We can get injured or harm by people, animals, things and other factors.

SOURCES OF SOURCE OF DANGERS 

Sources of danger are places, persons or things that cause danger or harm. For examples,

1. Sleepy floor or wet floor

2. Broken bottles

3. Unwanted materials

4. Uncovered well

5. Strangers

LESSON 2 – SOURCES OF DANGER (CONTINUATION)

6. Swampy area

7. Busy road

8. Playing with sharp objects

9. Fire

10. Defect electronics or machines, etc.

Note – The above are common sources of dangers for the children. 

REVISION AND WEEKLY ASSESSMENT 

As stated in performance objectives or lesson evaluation. 

PRESENTATION

To deliver the lesson, the teacher adopts the following steps – he/she,

1. Teacher revises the previous lesson based on the pupil’s related knowledge or experience.

Pupil’s Activities – The pupils participate actively in lesson review.

2. Teacher organizes the pupils into groups depending on the size of the class.

3. Teacher displays chart showing sharp objects and other things that cause injuries and harm.

4. Teacher asks pupils to state the uses of the sharp objects such as knife, scissor and blade.

Pupils Activities – The pupils state the uses of the knife, scissor and blade.

5. Teacher asks pupils to discuss what happens when it is not handle properly or playing with broken bottle.

Pupils Activities – The pupils identify and discuss sharp objects as sources of danger.

6. Teacher uses the activities in activity 3 – 6 and the pupils relevant responses to introduce the lesson and explains the meaning of danger.

Pupils Activities – The pupils pay attention to the lesson introduction and explain the meaning of danger.

7. Teacher guides pupils to identify and discuss other sources of danger at home, school and in their community and how to avoid them.

Pupils Activities – The pupils identify sources danger and discuss how to avoid them.

8. Teacher summarizes the lesson on the board with appropriate lesson evaluation.

Pupil’s Activities – The pupils participate actively in the summary of the lesson by responding correctly to most of the questions and write as instructed.

CONCLUSION

To conclude the lesson for the week, the teacher revises the entire lesson and links it to the following week’s lesson.
